Supply deal for tunnel

The quality of our ash was the key factor in winning a contract to supply Foam Concrete with EN450 for a tunnel associated with a major bridge project near Manchester, writes Sales & Quality Manager Chris Bennett.

Foam Concretes require any ash used in aerated, honeycomb concrete to have a carbon content of less than 5%.

ScotAsh is also supplying significant quantities of PFA and cement to a project to upgrade Rosyth Docks for the building of new aircraft carriers.

ScotAsh Limited-the award winning joint venture between ScottishPower and Lafarge Cement - has celebrated its 10th anniversary. Incorporated on 14th June 1999, ScotAsh opened its doors for business on 5th July 1999.

The original joint venture was forged between energy utility ScottishPower and cement manufacturer Blue Circle out of a desire to be more sustainable -and to develop new markets for ash-based construction products.
