ScotAsh Supplies Borders Rail Project

ScotAsh has been supplying the Borders Railway Project with ash and cement.
The first phase of construction, undertaken by BAM Nuttall on behalf of Network Rail, involved remediation of abandoned mine shafts in Midlothian.
Ground investigations had revealed areas of the route that would need support before new tracks could be built, to reduce the risk of subsidence.
The railway project will re-establish passenger railway services between Edinburgh and Tweedbank in the Scottish Borders.

Fife-based ScotAsh achieved a Highly Commended in the Manufacturing Excellence Awards 2012, run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

ScotAsh was the only Scottish company among the 12 UK finalists of the MX programme, which each year recognises the best of British manufacturing.

This year the company, which produces sustainable cements and grouts made from recycled power station ash, was awarded a Highly Commended in the People Effectiveness category.

ScotAsh Celebrates 10-Year Safety Milestone

ScotAsh, the UK’s leading producer of eco cements and grouts made from power station ash, today (Tuesday 20th November) celebrated the major safety milestone of 10 years without a Lost Time Injury*.

The company, based at Longannet Power Station, Fife, has operated for 3,652 working days without an accident to staff or contractors resulting in a Lost Time Injury.

During that time, employees have between them clocked up an impressive total of 560,678 hours of work.

The company’s excellent safety performance has been recognised externally in a national award scheme.

ScotAsh was named as one of the UK's top 21 manufacturers of 2011 in the Manufacturing Excellence programme, which is run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and endorsed by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills.
