ScotAsh has been awarded a fourth Gold Medal in the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents’ (RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2014, for maintaining its excellent health and safety performance.

RoSPA only awards Gold Medals when a company achieves five Gold Awards in a row. To date ScotAsh has achieved eight consecutive Gold Awards and four Gold Medals.

The company celebrated 12 years without a Lost Time Incident inNovember and continues to make health and safety a priority.

A health and safety week took place in June, with staff participating in various events including: a site evacuation drill, hazard identification and risk assessment, safe driving, healthy eating and exercise, work-life balance and learning about the new mobile plant audit standard.

Regular “toolbox talks” covering a range of health and safety issues help to keep every member of the workforce safety aware and working as a team to avoid incidents.

ScotAsh recently received a Healthy Working Lives Bronze Award, recognising the company’s efforts to improve employee wellbeing through activities, events, access to services and awareness campaigns covering key health issues, such as diet, exercise, smoking, alcohol and stress.
